Jordan began making bows with his father-in-law, violin maker James Reck and at the University of New Hampshire with Lynn Hannings. He then began formal studies with Master bowmaker, Ulf Johansson. Under Ulf’s tutelage, Jordan graduated as the first ever bowmaker apprentice with the handicraft guild of Sweden. Jordan holds a gold medal from the Violin Society of America, among other awards. His work is highly sought after for international exhibitions and has been displayed throughout Europe, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia. Jordan’s bows are in high demand by top artists and are played in elite ensembles around the world.

Born and raised in Canada, Jordan Scapinello is a double bassist in the Malmö Symphony Orchestra in Malmö. He also performs as a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and tours regularly as a guest artist and chamber musician. Jordan holds a Masters from Rice University and a Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan having studied under Tim Pitts, Paul Ellison, Joel Quarrington, Leigh Mesh and Diana Gannett. Jordan makes bows at his workshop in Malmö, Sweden where he lives with his wife, two daughters and a very cool rabbit.
